were christian and it says in the quran the prophet mohammed spread the world of islam through gabriel not through ethnicity so people have converted through words not ethnicity and anyone who thinks otherwise is really uneducated and needs to read more about islam
  12. by Dameon — @ 19:42:07

only idiots claim ethnicity through religion ive seen a few websites claiming egyptian christians are decended through pharaos and egyptian muslims are arabs or lebanese christians claiming they are the only phoenicians and lebanese muslims are arabs this is obvious lies created by western and zionist media i mean how do they know we werent all christians or the phoenicians were coverted to islam by force bosnians were christian before the ottoman empire and i belive christians were all arabs

I sure agree with you that we don't have to confuse ethnic origin with religion, but like i said the ottomans took over bosnia and hercegovina, doesn't that mean that a lot of ottomans moved to bosnia for work and got families there? all these people are actually Bosnian, but their roots lay in Turkey.Although, there are so many generations that lived in Bosnia over the years that we can't call them Ottomans anymore. This means i admit i was wrong what i said about the bosnian people being turkish
  14. by Hamal — @ 20:28:05

Ok now you are talking :) I agree with you that Bosnia is significantly influenced by the Ottomans. Still, i believe that Bosnians are Bosnians, a european people that happened to be muslims. It's wrong to confuse them with Turks or others, just because they 're muslims. Many people do this mistake, confusing religion with ethnic origin and ethnic identity. For example, we shouldnt confuse, lets say Greeks with Russians or Romanians, just because they are orthoodox peoples.

well, i can see that you don't have a close bond with the turkish people :) i didn't meant the whole balkan region, but countries like bosnia and hercegovina, albania, montenegro etc. these are muslim people. and this is because of mainly because of the ottoman take-over. and when i'm in my birth country bosnia, i see more influences of the muslim and turkish roots than christian, byzantine or roman roots. :)
  16. by EOS — @ 21:14:03

The vast majority of the Balkan People have nothing to do with Turkey and the Turks. You cant say Balkan people are turkish, just because (unfortunately) they have been under the ottoman rule and oppression for a certain period of history. How can you ignore the mainly christian, byzantine and roman roots of the Balkans?

  22. by Marleena — @ 23:31:57

of course the Balkan Region has connections to the middle east. Not so very long ago, the balkan was part of the ottoman empire, so practicly, an amount of the people that live on the Balkan are Turkish and because of that should be part of the middle east :)

She is nice, let her be free. Do not judge. i am sure people envy her for being this free. Good luck Haifa!

Viki Miljkovic and Natasa Bekvalac are from Serbian Balkan region. They both occasionally have Middle Eastern sounding - push pull vocal inflections not typical of Western Europeans - and occasional Middle Eastern sounding backing music. I have also noticed Makedonijan folk music often incorporates a familiar sounding Middle Eastern wind instrument. Those findings give me reason to suspect that the Balkan culture has close historical cultural links with the Middle East.
