  16. by Glad — @ 03:38:57

because the American version of the book was called "The Golden Compass", i still think that it would of been better if they stuck with The Northern Lights as a name, as a matter of fact, it would of been better if they just re-made the film, it was really sucky ._.
  17. by Matro — @ 04:01:56

i think you are complitely right! one thing is the name: the golden compass. why did they call it so? it's called northern lights actually. yes i think the ending was very sad... )_:

Loved the books - especially The Amber Spyglass. Bit of a sad ending for the trilogy though. The film wasn't as bad as some people make it out. Bit of a disappointment, yes - as it differs to the book, but overall, the special effects and acting (especially Dakota) make it seem a lot better.

i still cant believe they cut the ending scene from the movie, does anyone know if it will be on the DVD???
  20. by TOMAS — @ 05:10:53

No. But you got to admit. In the last book, they kill God. Or, at least the most powerful angel.
  21. by CALA — @ 05:33:52

    my favorite movie ;-D

The religous freaks need to get the eff over themselves. It's a movie ferchrissakes! A pretty good attempt at making a complex book into a movie. Richards is great as Lyra. I would have replaced Kidman with Tilda Swinton. CGI could have been a lot better, IMHO.

I agree that it's annoying when people don't fully read what anyone of any faith says - and divides people into two camps (the thinkers/ atheists or not). To make grand sweeping statements or accuse someone of not thinking, because they are Christian. There are so many different sects and beliefs amongst Christians alone! (Not all would be against gay marriage - liberal Quakers, for example, are often very open to the idea - and almost Buddhist in their 'Christianity'.)

What if you believe in a Godhead or creator, Paragon, but do not follow an organized religion? You are not religious, nor an atheist then (something you say is impossible)! But that's what I am :) I wouldn't call myself *religious*, as I follow no creeds or rituals, but I do believe in *something* higher than humans, and myself. Thank God. ;)
