Lena Horne really delivers on a reprise of her classic "Stormy Weather" in a medley with her latter-day anthem "If You Believe" from the musical 'The Wiz'. Superb!

I like record players, and last year I bought some old LP's and there was a record in there from the early forties of Lena Horne. When I put the needle on the groove I nearly got knocked down by the sound of her voice coming through. It was so unbelievably clear and strong and melodious, like no one else. I had never heard that particular song before but it was easy to see why everyone still knows who Lena Horne is.

Our beloved Ms. Horne is 90 years blessed and just the thought of having seen this show in the 80's still gives me chills.

I met Ms. Horne in 1985 when she brought "The Lady and Her Music" to the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC. I was an usher there. Our house manager arranged for some of us to meet her. I believe she wore this ensemble. Backstage I shook her hand, and was absolutely dumbstruck that this stunning beauty who looked like an amazon on stage was actually petite and 67 years old. She signed about a hundred or so playbills and called everyone "baby." I think my heart skipped a beat that evening.
