Calm down everybody. It obviously didn't hurt its hunting because they saw it hunting and then eating its prey. It's only done for a week, and its triggered by remote to come off. They don't need to tranq it again to get it off. I imagine it suffers more abuse when it gets kicked in the chest by a pissed off zebra :P
  3. by DRUMMOND — @ 15:37:12

My only beef with this idea is that the camera is so bulky. The lions gotta lug it around while hunting. But, I guess is doesn't hurt them.
  4. by Scirwode — @ 16:00:11

The cameras were not nigth vision cameras, they had lights on them that disrupted the lioness's hunt at night. Next time they should use real night vision cameras.

  7. by Wanetta — @ 17:09:08

With the all sponsor, they should have created critter cam smaller. The critter cam on the female lion looks really big.
  8. by Auriar — @ 17:32:07

That critter cam thing looks so awkward, big, clunky. This video reads like a poor defense for funding the project ($7k - $13k a pop?). With all the technologies we have thesedays, is this the best tool for gathering wild-life data? *duck*
  11. by Meldon — @ 18:41:04

We need to have radio collars on them. And the crittercam...which was probably a ittle inconvenient, really helped research on Lions' daily lives. Yeah, it sucks, shooting them with tranquillizers...but we have to do something to get the collars on the lions so that we can keep an eye on them.
  12. by Corvin — @ 19:04:03

Do you guys really think the lions care about a radio collar and a darting? It suffers more inconvenience in an everyday hunt... maybe you should go feed it
  13. by ACESTES — @ 19:27:02

They aren't in pain, and they obviously don't give a shit because they still hunted and went about their daily lives. Animals need to be drugged to be radio collared to be PROTECTED, or else they'd all be poached to the end of their species or we'd never know how to protect them. Think before you spew out garbage
  14. by Kailyn — @ 19:50:01

A minor week long annoyance. They need this to learn how to protect lions and their way of life, retard. It's not causing pain.
  15. by AEAEA — @ 20:13:00

poor lion! but i think it's ok to her..
  16. by Amd — @ 20:35:59

poor lion. i think you hit him on the spine.
  17. by Janko — @ 20:58:58

I FEEL SO SORRY FOR THOSE POOR LIONS!! How would they like to just randomly get hit with a tranquilizer dart?!! :'( And then have some annoying foreign object strapped to their neck? I would be PISSED.
  18. by Kammie — @ 21:21:57

Imagine the lion waking up and asking "WTF is this around my neck? I don't remember that there." Lol. But on a more serious note; those are amazing shots of how lions live. Who can think of hurting an animal that is loved by their family that much.
  19. by POL — @ 21:44:56

Rofl, wouldn't that be a sight!
  20. by NADA — @ 22:07:55

XD 'OHMAHGAWSH -mauled to death-' 'Now, did the kitty fall asleep?' 'Nah, it's eating him.' 'He was a good man...'
  21. by Giollabuidhe — @ 22:30:54

you da one who won the spellin bee,, uhh, im the first third grader wit a felony!
  22. by TABURER — @ 22:53:53

This kind of surveillance is good for the lion species. The researchers are able to acquire information about lion life they wouldn't be able to by watching them.
  23. by Cuyler — @ 23:16:52

seriously, all of you people who say take that stuff off...you try finding out more information about these animals behavior so we can save them without getting yourself killed. these camera's are nothing more than a minor bother to these lionesses. maybe you idiots should be more concerned with their shrinking habitat and them getting killed by farmers because, as the video said, they have a "taste for cattle."
