    Technical wise he is not especially impressive, but he puts sooo much emotional into the song, at least in a different way than a normal musical actor would. It wouldn't work in an old school musical, but for an actual movie musical (which this is) it works perfectly...

    it's not the fact people said Johnny couldn't sing. It was the quality of voice. Movie wise he was great but probably wouldn't do this on broadway. I love the movie and stage show

    I believe he deserved the role. His emotion in his acting, Tim put him to singing. He did way better than I had expected. His anger and strong emotion in his voice when he sings. So, it doesn't matter who thinks he sounds bad. I applaud his work.

    I totally disagree..totally. I think that he did fine. I think its alot more important that they have a good actor rather thatn a good singer. And he did fine, he hit all the notes right. Plus I listened to people singing it on stage and they were ten times worse than Johnnny. Hes brilliant. and he did a good job singing. He acts out the words when he sings, you acn hear him go along with the feelings of the words in his songs. so again I disagree

    If he isn't a singer or has no experience singing, why does he take the LEAD of a MUSICAL? He deserves the criticism. Don't get me wrong, he was good at acting, and I enjoyed the fact that the singing was more acting than singing, but still. You do not defend the fact that Depp took a LEAD in a MUSICAL if he has never sang before. THINK for the love of god

    ya I heard like people were critisizing him on his singing, I was like HES NOT A SINGER and considering he just did it for this movie hes AMAZING not to mention his incrediable acting makes up for the not so brilliant singing.I think he's perfect for the part. :) I love Johnny haha

    you can hear johnnys voice more hear than in the movie, where his voice is quieter and sounds a bit more edited. But he is such a good singer anyway, don't get me wrong, he's brilliant!
